In a continuing effort to educate those who will be distance education practitioners, the CDLR has specially designed professional development courses for teachers who will be teaching online courses through the Texas Virtual School Network. The Virtual Instructor Certification Program reflects the essential skills required by the North American Council for Online Learning (NACOL) to be a successful distance education practitioner for online-base instruction. Upon successful completion of all course assignments, participants will be eligible to deliver online courses as part of the Texas Virtual School Network. The VICP is five-week course delivered completely online.
During the course, teachers will participate in assigned activities, discussions, chats and email communication with the instructor and other participants. In addition, during the online instruction, teachers will explore a variety of issues facing online instructors and discover ways to effectively develop and deliver online instruction.
